Shettima Chairs National Economic Council Conference on Inclusive Growth

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who chairs Nigeria's National Economic Council (NEC), presided over a two-day conference bringing together the governors of all 36 states, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and senior federal officials to tighten economic coordination ahead of 2027.

Themed 'Delivering Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development: The Renewed Hope National Development Plan,' the conference focused on aligning state and federal economic priorities as the country works to consolidate the macroeconomic gains of the past three years.

The NEC is a constitutional body that meets regularly to deliberate on policies affecting the national economy and the welfare of citizens — one of several standing responsibilities the Vice President has taken on beyond his ceremonial role, alongside representing Nigeria at international forums and deputising for the President on state visits.
